Baby Bar, Spokane, WA May 2016
In May 2016 I got a chance to show work with my friend Amoe. Amoe makes incredible prints from wood he collects at his job as an arborist, and his work inspired me to create a nature series. The Baby Bar is appropriately tiny, so I had been thinking about making small pieces; I also wanted to incorporate poetry, so landing on the ideas of cellular mitosis and breaking up felt like a good match.
Check out the zine of this series here.
Now with half as much as before, you press both hands to the earth. Some of your motions are the same as before. There is less space but it's yours, and you can decide if it's worth it. Either way, begin again. Resting, or actively living.
"This phase was formerly called the resting phase. However, interphase does not describe a cell that is merely resting; rather, the cell is actively living." Does one or the other describe you better? Resting, or actively living.
You have identified where the break will happen when it happens. Do not use the following terms: death, a fight, conflict, wrong Do not make a list Do not title it "Ways You Have Hurt Me" It's your fault too. Thinking of yourself as a part and not a whole.
